We have had heavy rain all day. It is about 11:00 at night, the rain has backed off...tonight amongst all the mosquitoes dancing beneath the porch light I almost missed this tiny little moth. I thought it very distinctive that the wings stuck out at a 90 degree angle from his body and were very thin.
In learning more about this moth, it turns out that the wings are very feathery, and when at rest (as in these pics) - the moth will keep the wings tightly wound up. Also, the moth's third pair of legs are pulled up against the body giving it the appearance of only having two sets of legs.
The host plant(s) of Emmelina monodactyla primarily consist of Calystegia or Convolvulus spp. (Common names include Wild Morning Glory, Bindweed, Hedgeweed)
